Kiera's Tyranny

This blog is about our 2 children, Kiera 2 and Kalista, both born in May, 2 years and 9 days apart. I like to post pictures and tell funny stories about usually Kiera's antics. This is a way to keep family and friends "in the loop". I have moved my ranting to another blog :)

Doggie collar

So I am beginning to think that we are really going to have to start watching ourselves around MK. She is catching a lot more than we give her credit for.

The other day Doug and I were talking about where in the world Bentley's collar could have gone. we usually take it off him at night so he doesn't wake us and set it by the bed. we couldn't find it. Kiera was standing there while we were talking about it, and she wandered off and I followed her. she walked to her room and behind the chair there was Bentley's collar, which she had apparently picked up and moved. Doug and I were slightly freaked as this was a passive conversation over her head.

Doug also left with her yesterday to go and visit his family. Weird being childless, even if it was only for a couple of hours. He ended up not making the flight out of SLC and coming home. I am impressed that he did it with her all by himself, even when she was sitting on his lap. I asked him if he was tired and he was like "no, not really. I am fine" bc apparently I have the easiest job in the whole world. *rolling eyes*

MUMMUMMUM

This is virtually the only time she says my name is when she is mad at me. the other day we were out for lunch with a friend and I started to wipe her face off after. She started throwing a tantrum and yelling MUM MUMMUM! she was quite ticked off with me.

Yesterday I went to the grocery store without her, she was going on a hike with daddy. she went to the screen door and screamed and cried and carried on while I was driving away. nothing ilke making your mum feel guilty or anything.

She is very attached to daddy, which I am quite pleased with. This morning he left to go work on that other house, and he said bye and she started wailing away. We were both happy, even though we weren't happy she was crying. That means she is showing very positive signs of attachment. yay.

I think she is calling me! mummy. must go see.

I think she may have said Bentley as well this morning.

Doug got home last night, he's been gone for virtually 5 days.
the house in SLC has turned into a giant mess, we aren't sure if we are going to sell it or not...sigh.
and its raining today. great day to clean le house.

Snorting

I think I forgot to tell the story of the snort. well, she has always done this "snort" face where she crinkles her nose. the other day, well talking to auntie Kimmy, I said "let me see if I can get her to do this" and I snorted at her. she promptly snorted right back. Kim actually didn't know it was her until I said "Kim, that was Kiera" Then Kim laughed. Kiera kept on snorting bc Kim was on speaker phone and we were both laughing. it was pretty funny. Kiera is a real crack me up.

My friend from my website came over tonight. she has a son that is about 3 weeks older than Kiera. they did some parallel play and we all had a good time. what was fun about it was that Rene is SOOOO much like me. She is even an ENFP to boot. she looked at my house, which actually doesn't look THAT bad, I mean most stuff was off the floor, and said "You are just like me" and then she told me how she calls herself a someone who stays at home, but isn't a HOMEMAKER. she said she is good at raising her baby, but notsomuch on the clean front. I laughed and said I have to use that one for myself!
I think Kiera is a bit too young for the angry dance unless I do it with her. so I am going to try that next time.

We had play group today at Mr. Biggs, this place with all of this different equipment for small kids to play on. it was pretty fun. She is really quite agile, I hadn't realised how coordinated she was until some kids that were a bit older than her were struggling to do the same things. I went up and down this bridge with her twice and then she mastered her all by herself. She has also figured out how to walk backwards. I am very happy she can do these things and I think part of it is that I don't hover. I should probably hover a bit more, but she is really quite independent when she wants to be. but I am happy to say that she is back to holding my hand now. after she learned to walk, if we tried to touch her hand, she would screech at us. now, if I let her walk, she holds my hand while we do so. this is good. I am still thinking about a tether though, she does like to take off.

She is also getting her two molars. the other day she was this HUGE grouch and I couldn't figure out why. now I know...they are just breaking the surface on one side and about to come in on the other. painful and miserable to boot. all things considered, it could be a lot worse.

I can't believe that she is 15 months old all ready. crazy. she is such a sweet kid and so much fun to be around. I told Brent that actually she is a really good kid, and he didn't believe me. but she really is compared to a lot of other much more demanding kids her age. I love her to death and I keep freaking out about leaving her for Egypt. I am not sure I should, but bringing her to Egypt would be slightly more insane I think....

WAY too busy

for me. in fact, I didn't go to camp today bc I was to darn tired to motivate myself. that and I couldn't figure out how to get home...

okay...so lets see here. much to update. First off, I took her to her 15 month appointment. ummm, yeah. she hasn't gone since she was 9 months. she wieghs 21 lbs, and is in the 50% percentile for wieght. for hieght she was 31 ", and was in the 75%. but I think the FUNNIEST thing is that her HEAD is OFF the charts!! how hysterical! but she has always had a big head, so its no big deal I think...

and what else..hmmm. I left last thursday night to go to my conference. Brentsu had her for that night for about 3 hours and apparently she did just fine, it wasn't too hot and the trick is to just stuff her with food. Doug and I met in CVG where he was overnighting and I left early the next morning. we went out for dinner with his crew and I got the dreaded "sooo, what do you do besides your child??" I was like "uuhhhh, ummm, yeah...uhh, swim?" I felt SO LAME. maybe its bc I just AM lame.

I had a lovely time at the conference which makes me wish I had a personal blog, which makes me think I should start one. a life of a stay at home mum...gosh, the trails and tribulations would be just PAGE TURNING I tell ya.

anyway. I got home on Sunday with a little bit of drama, but I did get there. I met everyone at Gunther Tudy's, this restaurant and she did the same thing for me as she does for daddy, smiled and put her head down. it was soooo cute and I was quite ecstatic to see her that is for sure. and of course, now I am loaded with guilt that I went...

she's had quite a bit of progress in the talking department it seems. today she added the ALL important word, NO! I am really excited about that. She kept getting into the cupboard and usually I just redirect her. this time I said NO, you have to stay out of that cupboard. she said NO! I was like WOW, she said it. what fun for me! she also said NANA, in reference to bananas and said night night tonight as well. I think I am going to make a list. I have found that she might know words, but she doesn't use them everyday either...

okay list:
bye bye
book
nana
no
dadda
muma
that's dog
what's that?
yay
bumpa
so..hmmm, that doesn't look overly impressive. I might have to re think that list. but those are the ones she has used recently.

It was gross hot here again today and I am just REALLY READY for this to GO AWAY. the good news is that I have made some pretty cool friends that have young babies as well. all via my website where I am discussing a new style of parenting that does not involve spanking. tomorrow I am going to show Kiera the ANGRY DANCE, I think she will get a kick out of it.
